I am associated with Krainin Real Estate in Maine and got the owner to support my STP efforts. In talking about the Obs and Mt Washington we realized there are better views of the mountain from Maine than from NH. So, they are putting together some ads on listings that all have a view of Mt Washington! A great way of spreading the word and getting folks to think about MWO.
Just a few more days, folks! The admin office is electric with excitement these days (OK, with some anxiety mixed in...), and we are constantly floored by the support we're receiving. Seriously, this crew, the whole gang on the forums, you are amazing! Raising $1,000+ in increments of $25 or $50 is not easy. You are all working so hard on our behalf and we are so appreciative.
I think there are less than 30 STP fleeces out there in the world. We'll be ordering up a pretty big batch this year! Funny, we thought the Subaru lease would be the big "bribe" to push people to the $1,000 milestone...
Thanks so much for everything you're doing for the Obs. I can't wait to toast all of you at the After Party! (By the way, we've ordered dinner for 650 people. 650!!)
Speaking of the After Party, you should know that we've really worked hard to make it even better this year. Backpacker Magazine's "Get Out More" Team will be there. We have a great bluegrass band from Mississippi providing the tunes. Primaloft will be there with not one, not two, but three costumed characters for photos and fun. The prizes are ridiculous-- more and more stuff keeps rolling in! We'll be doing door prizes throughout the After Party, and I'll be doing short profiles of some of our hikers, roaming the tent, looking for some of the great stories out there. It's going to be a lot of fun.
See you this weekend!

Wow - this sounds fantastic! Sign me up. Oh, I am signed up.
Don't worry, the Subaru is a big deal and I am still trying to get other forum folk to have a ride in "mine". But, the fleece is still very, very cool.
Scot, I agree with Brad. The Suby is definitely a big deal, but the fleece will be nice because it will have the STP10 logo on it. BTW, any hint as to what color they are?
Brad -
What's this? I've been in the forum now since around April and I didn't get an offer to ride in the Suby :confused:
How long does it take to become a forum folk :). See everyone soon!
Brad,
This is great...I had no idea you were providing limo service...please pick me up around 10:30am on Friday, I'm down in Massachusetts, I want to do a little shopping in the North Conway, EMS etc., area Friday afternoon, we can swing by my hotel to check in and then you can take me to the kick-off party. I'm planning on hitting the trail around 6:00, so if you could then pick me up around 5:15 on Saturday morning that would be great...you can take me home right after the after-party!!!
I really appreciate it...this take a lot of pressure off me! ;-))

Thanks Scott. I cannot wait for the fun to begin. I have to admit that the fleece was actually pushing me.I cannot wait to wear it.It was tough this year to raise the $$ but I reached my goal plus a couple. We all have to remember that its not just us that is doing this but its the entire crew from MWO and all the volunteers. Without all of them this would not be happening. THANK YOU !!!!!!
I am sure everyone at MWO is heads down focused on making STP 10 an awesome event. There is not much thought to afterwards - like what color the fleece would be. The Observatory is such a small organization to start with - and to be able to pull off an event like STP is quite an accomplishment.
Now to the wording of Suby riders, I would love to take anyone for a ride in it - if you can catch me. A few folks have been successful already.
the suby is a nice car so thats why i will be taking the next one back to PA with me and yes the fleece is a big thing because every one that gets to $1000 gets one ,and im one this year
