Great pictures as always. Part of why I like trip reports with pictures best is that you get to hopefully see what the trail is like rather than just read it. You picture gives more perspective...
It's never too early to start planning the next trip. I have years worth of planning done myself. Congrats on bagging some more peaks on the list.
I had been expecting foliage to not be that great, so it wasn't that much of a let down. I was just happy to be out hiking with decent weather. With being so busy lately, my last decent weather...
Sandwich Dome & Jennings Peak
Sandwich Mtn Trail --> Jennings Peak Spur --> Drakes Brook Trail
Distance: 7.70 mi.
Elevation Gain: 2,582 ft. (overall) 2,838 ft. (total)
I agree that that looks like a great hike. Nice pics. It's things like this that make my hiking to-do list grow quicker than I can hike them.
A little bit late, but things have been busy around here.
Caps Ridge Trail
Distance: 4.91 mi.
Elevation Gain: 2,661 ft
Time: 2:52 (up) 5:14 (total)
Looks like I'm on a role. I think this is my 3rd win in the last 6 months or so. Get ready for me to win for first snow fall too. :p
84 mph on the eleventh still looks like the highest wind speed so far. Only a week to go
Looks like some nice views. In my two hikes of Moosilauke I have only had views to the south once and never views to the north.
October 16 is my guess
My guess will be 87 mph
I just came down the Boott Spur Trail a week ago for STP. I don't think there would be any places where you need to pull yourself up. There were a few short steep spots, but I imagine going up them...
It was a good time, I'll be doing it again. The trails weren't as bad as I was expecting (steepness) and the only downside was that coming down the Boott Spur trail seems to drag on. It didn't take...
Tuckerman Ravine Trail --> Lion Head Trail --> Tuckerman Ravine Trail --> Crawford Path --> Davis Path --> Boott Spur Trail --> Tuckerman Ravine Trail
Distance: 8.62 mi....
I've been wanting to hike the Baldplates for a while, but your photos make me want to even more. Great pics and report as always.
Do you know of any list somewhere that has the locations of the benchmarks? People could set out to find all of them in a certain area. If there are more than one though, they might miss some. ...
From the STP and MWO facebook pages...
*****ATTENTION SEEK THE PEAK PARTICIPANTS*****
We are carefully watching a storm system that may affect our ability to hike on Saturday. Please watch this...
Mt. Wildcat D Peak & Mt. Wildcat
6-27-13 & 6-28-13
Lost Pond Trail --> Wildcat Ridge Trail --> 19 Mile Brook Trail
Distance: 5.0 mi.(day 1)
3.8 mi.(day 2)
8.8 mi. (total)...
Looks like we have a winner at 8 days. Congrats Whitemtnvisitor.
Looks like KathyC is in the lead now. But with the forecast for today, Whitemtnvisitor still has a shot. Guess my winning streak is over.
I'll be up there for a week in July... good luck stopping me. ;)
My guess will be 25.9
Just in enough time to put all of us in the running. Well, except BAXTERCA2 who is already out. :(
I plan to sleep in my own bed the night before as well, but then will have to make the approx. 2.5 to 3 hr drive up before hiking though. Haven't fully decided on a route yet. Being as I will be...
Congratulations on your finish. It may not have been how you expected, but it will be memorable (my finish went that way as well).
As far as the goal of hiking the 48 and not setting out to do it...
