Tim and I met Brad about half-way up Lion's Head on our first Seek-the-Peak back in 2007. It was my first time hiking MW from Pinkham, too. After introductions, he convinced us that was just HAD to...

I think that the Ammo trail is a great way to get Washington for your first time! You have the Lakes of the Clouds hut as a milestone, so if you make it there, that's great! Buy a cookie, enjoy the...
I apologize for the late jump into the thread! Haven't been on in awhile! We're at Moose Brook Friday through Monday.
We WILL BE at Kevin's after-party this year.

I did Cannon via Mittersill on Tuesday and we were able to avoid all but about 30 feet of snow. Did it in trail runners - no issues!
Thanks for the pictures from Winterthur! We used to live in Delaware, and a walk at Winterthur or close-by Longwood Gardens would always make us happy that spring had arrived. Just beautiful!

Hi,
Here's another - and this one is using Stony Brook trail rather than Carter Moriah Trail. It's a couple days older but most of it is probably still relevant.

Great write-up! You wouldn't think you should have to say it, but when it comes to the hand-warmers - you are right-on! It does no good to have them with you if your fingers are no longer...
My hiking goals for 2010....
1. Don't let work overwhelm me. Plan vacation days to hike - every other Tuesday is what I'm doing for the winter. As well as 1 day on the weekend.
2. Do some...
Hi John,
We must have been just +/- an hour or two from you. Jeremy recognized your car when we got back to the parking lot!
It was a glorious day to be on the ridge, and I, too, had the thought...
Beautiful pictures! So glad you had a such a wonderful hike! You guys really deserved it this time. You've made a lot of trips to NH this year for not-nice weather.
We were sorry that we...
I think this is a great idea for a thread!
Living in Ashland, we tend toward
East & West Rattlesnake, Holderness (mostly East to avoid the crowds)
Rattlesnake Mtn, Rumney
These are...
Wow... now we *have* to go back so we can see the Lake like that. Congratulations on a beautiful hike! Don't worry about whether it's a perfect photo day or not - live in the moment!

Here are some other great snowshoe hikes:
Squam Range: East & West Rattlesnake
Squam Range: Morgan-Percival Loop
Coppermine Trail to Bridal Veil Falls
Black Mountain Pond (off Lincoln Woods...
Hey, I missed this report the first time around. I think I was away from technology for a few days.
Beautiful Pics Erich! Looks like you and your dad had a great time! Congratulations on making...
Beautiful pictures Brad! What lovely colors!
Aaaargh! So far behind on reports!! Mark and Kevin have done a great job documenting these so far! As soon as I can, I'll add our photos of the Zealand Notch hike and the Gunstock/Belknap/Piper...
We got ours yesterday and I had the same reaction as others here. I didn't even need to LOOK at the credits, but I did, just so I could say "told ya so".
Congratulations Patrick! It's a beautiful...
What a wonderful first hike in the Whites! Congratulations for making it so great for Jen!
I agree with all the aforementioned "next hikes" from Mark and Anna. Also, don't discount the Squam...
I think that the caterpillar will be a Spotted Tussock Moth. We saw these guys munching on leaves all over in Maine last weekend. I'd never seen them before - they're like a creative mix of wooly...
I've never seen an AT mile marker before. Emma really looks like she's ready to go!
The fungi is very cool!
This part of the state needs to get on our radar. We've been to Wauchipauka and...
Wonderful report and pictures!! Looks like an incredible adventure. The "Frozen Landscape" picture is surreal.
Glad you stayed warm at night!
Valerie
I agree with Kevin and Jim! If you do "the Rattlesnakes" as in "both East and West", you'll probably have East to yourselves. We almost always do.
Hedgehog Mtn is a great shoulder-season hike. ...
Hi Chris,
I've got sugar issues also, so I need to be careful on the trail. I try to ensure that I get protein, fiber and fat along with slow-releasing carbs.
Beef jerky
Cheese (the...
Hollis, in southern NH, has an apple festival right on the square in town. I went to it with my sister and her family a few years ago (before I moved to NH). Talk about food... it was like apple...
