I wouldn't consider it cheating, since there's an "official" starting point to the hike. Riding a bike in the winter down a road is a heck of a lot more work than driving to that same starting point...

Beautiful shots Brad! Don't know if I could pick a favorite.
Thanks for the info! I'm planning on being out there for 30 days to hike the John Muir Trail. Buddy and I will be SoBo, so Whitney will be the end of the trail. From what I've read, the special...
Sorry to detour the thread, but I'd love to hear more about the Mt Witney climb! Me and another friend of the forum are planning to be up there end of August 2012.
Did you just do the Whitney...
Ready to rock the kilts this year!
9-11 GTG would be for Flags on the 48.
How about another Gettysburg GTG? Who would be close enough for that?
Well... STP is basically a hike forum about a single hike. If you're not interested in STP, I can understand. I'm from VA so my TR are generally not in the Whites, which is why I've posted them in...
I think one of the reasons that many people (I'm guilty as well) have migrated over to Facebook is that the workflow for uploading/posting pictures is very easy from there. I've actually posted while...
I was on my way back down the Liberty trail at 1pm, so I probably passed you. Left the lot at 8am. Another hiker left at the same time. He was heading up Flume Slide. Met him on Liberty and he said...
When did you reach the summit of Liberty? I was up there on Saturday as well!
I am! Best time to enjoy a nice fire!
Great pics! Thanks again for being the trail guide for the day. Need to plan an overnight to the shelters up there, and more time to explore the POW camp. Always nice to find these hidden gems you...
I think I like them just as much, which is why I take them!
Boom! I knew you'd come thru!
Someday I WILL touch that mountain!
Ha! I've been called worse things! :P
A tad bit chilly... bit I'll take it! At least it looks calm up on the south col.. Nice spot to camp! Who's with me?
Congrats on a great hike! You got to meet THE Brad Bradstreet?? There are some that believe he's a sort of mythical man that only exists inside the matrix. However, when the stars align and lighting...
Another beautiful clear morning on top of the world.
Maybe we need to get Brad to work his caching magic.
I don't think anyone said he was on his "death bed." Just discussing that maybe dying while out on the trail is not as tragic an event and given the choice, some of us would think that would be a...
Dangit.. I missed it! I think they are actually 14 hours off from us, maybe 13 soon.
I could be off on the time zone thing... not sure what the time is on Everest compared to the East Coast. Though I didn't account or DST.
Very cool, but its only on from 6am to 6pm.... local time. Which means, going by the time in Lhasa, Tibet, they are a 12 hour difference. So its on 6pm to 6am our time.

Sad indeed. However, you can look at it another way... Better to die out on the trail within mother nature than slowly in a hospital bed.
Interesting. Yeah, SPOT has something similar. My big issue with these is that the full functionality is only as good as how long your cell phone battery lasts. I use one of the Spot II trackers and...
