    Default Favorite Trail?

What is your favorite trail up the mountain???

Mine is the Ammonusuc Ravine Trail. It's steep, ledgy, but there's just something about it that I like. Maybe it's stopping at Gem pool, or lakes along the way!

I like the Ammonusuc Trail. In the worst weather thread, i mentioned a trip three years ago. That was going up the Ammonusuc Ravine Trail. I also like the crawford path along the ridge to lakes and then to the summit, or the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. I'm doing Lions Head this summer.

So far I like Huntington Ravine Trail the best. Lions head is cool too, especialy the head where you can look 1600 feet into Tuckerman Ravine.

I had a real nice time hiking the Great Gulf trail all the way from Rt. 16. No crowds and excellent views. Had a great day to do it too: 55 degrees and sunny with 100+ mile visibility on top.

i'd have to say huntington ravine as well. tucks is over-rated in my opinion, especially in the summer as it's jampacked. the ammo-jewell loop is fun too. i dig takin' the camel trail to the lawn cut-off once ya get up there for all the open walkin' and all.

also, goin' up great gulf to the top is a fine longer hike as ya go by spaulding pond and then up quick! i went that way once or twice and then took the wamsutta trail down.

Favorite trail has to be trails out of the great gulf upto the ridge. Six husbands and Madison gulf trail over the head wall both with full packs are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not far behind are the trails out of Randolph up to the ridge especially kings ravine on its way upto thunderstorm junction.

I have always liked going up Lions Head to the summit and then down Tuckerman's Headwall. Going up you pop out in the open with great views very quickly. On the way down you continue with good views for quite a while.

Last summer I went up the Amonoosic Ravine Trail to the Lakes and then summit. Came down the Jewell Trail. Did this loop with my 9 year old grandson - for his first, of many, hike up Mt Washington.

Here is a picture of him after we left the Lakes heading to the summit.

The Ammo, Tuck to Lions Head, and Nelson Crag have always been my favorites. As well as approaching from Crawford Path or on Gulfside continuing on from Jefferson. Though after a sample hike of the Dry River Trail, I would love to get to the rock pile after seeing the exciting views from Oakes Gulf. And I will someday!

    Thumbs up Great thread

Some people asking about trails up washington so thought I would bring this back upto the top where people can see it. I really enjoyed peoples input on their favorite trail up the rock pile. Am surprised though that the trails on the Randolph side were not often mentioned. I guess for most that is to long a day to summit Washington from that side and then come back down. I do have to say. I love kings Ravine!!
