Yes you can get trail maps as well as trail guide books including the AMC White Mountain with maps in the back.

Is there really any BAD weather???
So far, it appears tomorrow should be a great day to hike as far as the weather is concerned. Thanks for answering all my questions, and I'll try and post some pictures!

Have fun, stay on the trail, and watch those nasty chipmunks!!!Originally Posted by DanPBD

As of 8:30 AM the Deck Cam is in the clouds. Hope it clears a bit for them.Originally Posted by DanPBD
You can go back and see prior Deck Cam images if you do not want to stay glued to the computer all day. Go to http://public.fotki.com/MWO/saved/2007/deck_archive/ and see the older 15-munite Deck Cam images.

Tip of the Day
Before heading to the summit add the following URL to your favorites in your cell phone. When you get to the deck you can view the Deck Camera on your phone and see if the camera got you or not. You can even do a retake 15 minutes later.

Well unfortunately I didnt get the message about the deck cam, that was because I left around 430am (from 20 min north of boston). As I was getting close, it appeared as if it was going to be almost a perfectly clear day, however, I thought too soon, as when I pulled onto 302, the clouds were really ominous looking. I started up the trail at 8am. I bet a lot of beginners think too early that the trail is easy, but once you get in the thick of things, man what a hike!! Breathtaking waterfall views. There were also quite a bit of people on the trail. When I got to the LOC Hut, I took a pretty lengthy rest (30-40min) before heading up to the summit. Just as I was leaving the hut, the wind was very very gusty and cold. Lots of people were bundling up, as did I, but about 20 minutes afterward, the wind died down, and I began to get really hot. I was laughin to myself, because when you see the summit towers you think its only about 10-15 minutes away...yet it ends up being 40 minutes or so. I think I did that to myself about 3 times after leaving the hut. haha. I was trying to time my summit arrival a little bit, so my dad could take some pictures of me on the summit. The summit looking east had pretty good visibility, I think it was about 50 miles. Good enough for some good pictures, I suppose, but there were clouds at my back the entire way. Winds were about 24 with gusts of around 50, which I did experience a couple times, just after leaving the hut. Summit temp was in the upper 40s. Going down was spectacular! Overall I completely enjoyed myself, and totally satisfied that I can say that I hiked it. I'll try and get a couple pics for you all to see.

Dan,
Sounds like you had a good day! Take a look at the thread at http://www.mountwashington.org/forum...?t=181&page=12 and maybe the West camera caught you as you were going by.
