A long drive

Here are a few images from a drive I took on Sunday. Rangley Lake, Height of the Land, 13 Mile Wilderness, Jefferson Notch Rd, and Crawford Notch. 335 miles of driving.

I am ready to get back to hiking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the view from the Height of Land on Rte 17 well. We stay at a camp on the lake it overlooks, Mooselookmeguntic. My first ever view of Maine's western mountain/lakes region was a sunset from that very spot. I was about 19. We went to spread my father in law's ashes on that lake.

Nice Pics! Jefferson Notch is a fun drive. I grew up on the Jefferson end of Valley Road(rt.115 end) and we use to bike up to the lot for Ridge of the Caps, stash our bikes in the woods, run up Mt. Jefferson and bike back home. We would come screamin down Jefferson Notch Road, never encountered any cars though. Lots of turkeys! Unfortunately, I wrecked my dads first mountain bike doing it, a Specialized. Decided to cool off in one of our holes in the Israel River, shot down a big rock to get to a little sandbar, had to much speed and bad angle, front tire sank in the sand and bike flipped over backwards. What a ringer. Fortunately I was 16 and could take it. Water felt great afterwards.
