Hale, Tom, Field, and Willey
Im new to this site. Me and my son Gabriel (age 7) are working, quite slowly, on our 4000 footers list. I had planned on hiking in Franconia area (Lincoln, Lafayette) on the weekend of the 28th but went to Plan B after hearing about likely thundershowers durning Saturday afternoon. The trip we took is one that I highly recommend for someone hiking at a slower (7 year old and overweight dad) pace. We took Hale Brook Trail to Mt. Hale's summit, Lend-A-Hand Trail to Zealand Falls Hut to cool off, then spent the night around two miles or so East of the hut along A-Z Trail just after the last real brook crossing. We summited Mt. Tom, then Mt. Field. and Mt. Willey along the Willey Range Trail the next morning and into the afternoon. Just as we approached Rt. 302 where my better half was waiting for us so loyally, it began to rain. What do you know, the weatherman was wrong. No Boomers that day.! I guess you could say that the trip was a successful failure. That makes summits 6, 7, 8, and 9 for us.
