Carter Dome and Mount Hight 8/11/07

On our trip to Imp Shelter at the end of May we had intended to go to Carter Dome but never made it. Instead we had to return to mark Jude's second trip and the third trip for Emma and I. By making two trips we wound up with two very nice hikes instead of one long, arduous hike, (OK, I know it's not that bad, but we are getting old and we've done them all before anyway, now we can take our time and enjoy them!). We had another perfect Saturday to hike, the temps were warm without being hot, humidity was low, and the bugs were again present but not even annoying enough to put on bugspray, though they were worse later in the day. On the way home the next day we stopped in Pinkham Notch to stretch our legs on the Lost Pond Trail and Square Ledge:

Thanks Billy! Sometimes I forget how fortunate we are to live within a few hours ride of the Whites. It's worth the gas prices!
