OK - who's going to be in the mountains for Flags on the 48 next weekend and what mountain will you be on?
We're hiking, but haven't made a decision on a mtn yet...

Galehead!
Looks like Field has not been reserved yet if you guys are interested in that one...
How about next year "THE OBS FORUM" reserves a peak and hikes together? We're not able to reserve MW as it's considered an "accessible peak" for people who want to participate but can't hike as is Cannon and Wildcat D.
Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. If I know far enough in advance I can prepare for it...and save for it!![]()

Is there really any BAD weather???
I saw that the people originally assigned to Mt Field had cancelled, but I'm really uncomfortable committing to getting that flag up there and flying. Last year, we saw about 6-8 strong college-aged guys working to get the flag up on Eisenhower. It was a challenge for them due to wind and weather. It would have been impossible for the two of us. I think we're more into the "support" mode for the folks carrying the flags.

And yes! If the forum group here picks a mtn next year, we'll definitely join in!!
Hello everyone. I'm new, this is my first post. My fiancee and I hiked up the Webster Jackson to Mt Jackson Saturday 9/8/07 and saw the flag. It was so awesome, as we didn't learn of Flags on the 48 until afterward. We continued on to Pierce, Eisenhower, and Monroe, then down the Ammonoosuc. We must have been too late to see the flags on the other three peaks. It was quite an awesome day!
Hi Snogger1! Welcome!
I'm glad to hear that you had such a great day! What kind of visibility did you have? Were the southern Presidentials in the clouds?
This was our second FOT48 hike. We were on Mt Moosilauke on Saturday, where it was windy, damp and cloudy! Here are some pictures...
Regards,
Valerie
Yeah, I don't envy the 48 parties whose job it was to plant those flags. Tuesday was cold and rainy, not much silver lining there.
I am glad you all were able to do this. Thanks.
