I was checking out the webcams when I saw his one. Has anyone on the summit been assimilated?

Well, that is a good guess. But, since the observers all seem to be still there I would go with a second guess. The bright sun as it is setting to the west is overpowering the CCD in the West camera. That gives the streak as well as the black dot. Doing this too much to a camera can damage it. Fortunately, MW has many foggy and cloudy days so the cameras seem to last quite well.

I had a similar photo as a screen saver from last year. It had a round spot in the middle that looked like a saucer.

Here is an example of the folks coming in for a landing at sunset. They always come from the west as the sun is setting. Must be a way of hiding.

Actually, according to the friendly Swedes at Axis, the 206M protects itself against sun damage. The black dot is the result of this self defense system. The laser beam though is really aliens.
