I am going to REI tonite to look at the Osprey Strato 40 and I was wondering if anybody has one or if anybody has any kind of feedback on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..

I don't know from personal experience, but I recently read a trip report where Mats Roing hiked all 48 4000 footers in 11 days, unaided, in other words, he carried all food and water with him. He also walked all distances between mountains, starting at Moosilaukee and ending on Cabot for a total of 235 miles.
He used an Osprey.

Chris,
This is a pretty good pack. I like Ospreys a lot. I have both Stratos 25 & 40. Only two observations: 1. The horizontal chest strap is prone to pop off its piping. This can be easily fixed when it happens and the pack is still usable for me today. 2. If overstuffed the seams at the bottom of the pack tend to pull, more so than with other brands I have used.
All-in-all a good pack that takes a lot of abuse and doesn't sag off your back but stays high where it should be.
wow those are nice.

Thanks for the reply guys. I actually did not make it there tonite but I am going Saturday morning. I will see what else they have but I have read a bunch of reviews and so far I haven't seen one bad review. I know there is less expensive ones but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.
Wish I had one for tomorrow. I am packing very light except for the camera equipment. Whether I stay overnight will be seen. Sunrise is 7:08am on the NC coast. Lets see if I can get there for pictures . . .
