OT: Welsh Mountains

I spent the weekend in England and Wales and fell in love with the Welsh mountains! The English countryside is rolling bumps in the middle of flat plains. Southern Wales around Caerphilly Castle is hilly.

The Welsh coast is very rugged. Then we cut through Snowdonia National Park and saw the beauty of the Welsh mountains.

Yes I have to agree,Wales is beautiful.When I was stationed in England I made a few trips there.I got a kick out of seeing a show on television making fun of the Welsh town names.My favorite was "Please Drive Caerphilly"

A great place to check out as a base of operations for hiking is Betws-y-coed. Good trails from there - and plenty of B&B and hostels to stay. There was even one hotel that was AAA rated.

Remember to bring your rain gear as it is supposed to rain every day.

Hi, I was born in Gloucester, England which is close to the Welsh border; I
spent many summers riding around the Welsh mountains on my motorcycle.
One of my favorite places was Llandrindod Wells, which is almost dead
center of the country high up on the plateau. Lots of hiking, etc. and
off the beaten track; I would advise learning a few Welsh words, you will
make instant friends with the locals; they are trying desperately to keep
their language alive.
