Wedding Ceremony On The Summit??

Good morning,
I have a bit of an odd question. My fiancee and I will be getting married next summer (Shooting for the weekend of July 19th, 2008). We would like to be married on the observation deck of the summit and are wondering if this has ever been done and if so, who can we contact to start arranging this to happen.

Meg and I are both huge Mount Washington "buffs" and I, personally, have been a member of the obs since 1984. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob,

Its done often, more often than you might think!

You want to talk to Mike Pelchat at MWSP, and Mary Power or Amy Kuzma ( event co-ordinators) at the Auto Road.

We see several wedding parties every summer, and covering those two bases always results in a better experience for everyone.

I'm not suggesting that YOUR wedding is actually an EVENT planned BY the Auto Road, but getting your party to the summit in an organized fashion is really much easier when there is communication. Should you need to use the indoor facilities at the summit ( inclement weather or such, LOL) , Mike P can give you the whole scoop on that, too.

That will be a great wedding to remember. I hope your invite list isn't too large. It can be expensive getting all your guests to the summit. Although it is a once in a lifetime thing so I guess it's worth the money!

Thinking back in the two summers I have been here, I have witnessed at least four weddings on the summit. Some low key, some a bit bigger. Some dressed appropriate for the summit, others dressed appropriate for church. Some with many quests, some just the couple and a minister. Neat to observe just so long as they don't bother us from doing an observation.

A question re: the four weddings on the summit you observed: Where on the summit were they held?? I have gotten ahold of Mike P. at MWSP and he gave it a green light. We're thinking of renting a time for the tip top house or part of the Sherman Adams Building, in case the weather is really bad that day (Covering all bases). Basically, we're trying to do something "different" for a wedding and trying to coordinate with all parties on the summit and not get into anyone's way. (State Park, Auto Road, Obs).

I would love to line it up with the deck cam, so that the world can watch it and also have it archived. We just don't want to interfere with summit operations and are going to try our best to coordinate with MWSP, the obs, and the auto road.

With the new news about the North web camera being replaced and promises of video of some sort, it would be nice if you would schedule your wedding to AFTER the Deck camera is replaced.

I wonder the the new cameras will update their images moe often than 15 minutes. Hmmm, maybe for Premium members. Quite often I take web camera images and put them together into a video. It would be cool to do that for your wedding.
