Here's some pics I took around the North Florida, South Georgia area the week after Thanksgiving. I got what I could since most of the foliage was past peak by this point.

I think its the only state in the country you can't ski in.

well if they want to ski they will have to do what they did in Dubai and put a indoor ski slope in

How high of a mountain do you think would be needed in Florida to have snow on it in winter?

Mount Everest is around 29 degrees north, farther south than parts of Florida.

The Atlas Mountains in Morocco are around the same latitude and people ski there. Highest peaks there are over 13,000 feet.

Considering Florida gets snow without mountains its kind of a hard question. But to have consistent, regular snow I'd guess 8,000 feet. Probably less considering mountains farther north in Georgia get snow at half that elevation. Also, you have full access to continental polar air to the north.

Then my next question is how much time and money would it take to build one because I hate to think of Florida as the only state without skiing!

get your kids ti start pilling dirt in the back yard and you never know some day you might be skiing in your back yard
