Mt Washington Hike MLK Weekend

Hello all! What a great site to find, thanks to everyone for all the great info.

Planning a trip up the mountain MLK weekend this January. Shooting for the best weather on one of the three days, 1/19, 1/20, or 1/21 via Lions Head.

Anyone else planning to be out there? Im keeping my fingers crossed for good weather. This will be our first attempt in winter and I am very excited.

Absolutely none... avid outdoors experience in 3 seasons. First winter fun. My brain has been a sponge lately and Im looking forward to getting out there. Planning a few trials around the area to get some experience using the crampons and axe.

All I can say is that Im very humble and thorough and plan to take it very carefully based on advice Ive read here and other places.

Will do. Staying in N. Conway that weekend driving up from Boston Friday night. Lets keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

I'd dive up from Boston the morning of our climb. Hopefully everything works out weather wise. I can give you some istruction on proper Ice Axe & Crampon technique as we ascend. You'll want to take that information and practice it so it becomes second nature.

Even if the weather is not good we should be able to make Lion Head without much problem.

As it gets closer I might be up there as well. Probably on the Saturday or Sunday but not the Monday.
