No moose, but...
Although we turned back before the summit of Mount Cabot, we still had a pretty hike through Bunnell Notch. Oh well, the mountain will still be there next weekend when we try again. Full report and pictures here:

Emma's paws
It wasn't a problem on this day, but has been on others. She sits down and chews the ice out. It depends on the temperature and the consistency of the snow. We use Musher's Secret on her feet to keep them from forming ice balls. Sometimes the snow balls up on her long fur between her legs and on her belly and chest. If it's a short hike we break it off, but we have turned back on longer hikes because she was all balled up. She loves the snow better than summer hiking in the heat and doesn't seem to have any problem with her paws being cold. It kind of tweaks me when she jumps right in those cold streams and ducks her head under. Tough being in a fur coat all the time, even in winter!
