Bridal Veil Waterfalls! Sunday, October 29
Ideal for the beginner or advanced hiker with a ton of local history! Our group will hike in just 2.5 miles up easy grades to see the spactacular 80 foot falls and the scores of cascades along the way. We will visit the hand cut log shelter the C.C.C. built in the mid 40's and learn the history of the area where Betty Davis was lost and where local hero Art Ainsworth rescued her. They fell in love and he became her 2nd husband! See the hidden & historic bronze plaque dedicated to her rescue, "the keeper of stray ladies!" Our group will have a nice social lunch on the 'lunch rocks' beside the Falls.
I-93 to exit 38, turn left. At the intersection continue forward on Rte 116 South. Just under 3.5 miles from Franconia Village on the left is Coppermine Road. You'll see the parking lot and us.
This hike is just 5 miles round trip, 1100' of elevation gain in 4 hours with a ton of history that I'll share! We'll meet at the Coppermine Trail parking lot at 9:30 am and hit the trail promptly at 10 am.
This is more a pleasant social event than a hiking event. Make new friends, meet old friends!
