    Default RSS Feed

I know that vBulletin (that platform for these forums) supports RSS feeds as I've used it on other vBulletin based groups. The FAQ mentions it here: http://www.mountwashington.org/forum...ss_syndication

It appears that it isn't turned on for this site. It would be nice to get the RSS version of new posts rather than sifting through the complete threads.

I get RSS feeds off the Observer Comments and the Photo Journal on the main site. I have asked for RSS off the ObsCast page. For the forums that I have posted to I get an e-mail of the additional posts. I think that was set up in my forum profile.

I have the same thing set up on my profile. I get an e-mail when someone replies to a thread I have posted in.

    Default RSS is now enabled

We just enabled RSS for these forums. To view the feeds, simply go to this page (FireFox, for one, allows you to subscribe using "Live Bookmarks"):

    http://www.mountwashington.org/forum....php?type=rss2

Or, for the older RSS 0.9 format, try this link (says "rss" instead of "rss2"):

    http://www.mountwashington.org/forum...l.php?type=rss

If you have questions about a particular browser or feed reader, please post here and someone will probably advise on your software. If you are not sure what RSS is, it is a way to subscribe to web sites that change frequently (the TV Guide of the Web). See also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)

I read my e-mails in Outlook. There is an add-in to Outlook called "BlogBot" which can manage your RSS subscriptions. Copy and paste the RSS link from a page like the forums into a subscription entry - give it a label - and when there are changes to that web page an RSS message will appear in a folder in Outlook named by that title.

    Default RSS Feed

An RSS feed essentially allows you to have the new threads displayed in your RSS reader. For example if you have google as your home page, you can add their RSS reader, and then add OI to that. Then you will see all the new threads on your home page. Kinda like that.

I dont know about an RSS feed, but you can already subscribe to a thread and be notified, via email, of new replies. Same goes for entire forums, too. The link should be just below the menu bar.
