I was just looking at the conditions page and it seems the vertical temp. profile is reporting an inversion.

Is there really any BAD weather???
Actually, on closer look it's a pocket of warm air inside the colder air between 2300 and 3300 ft. How cool.

I think this puts a face on the concept of an inversion. Different air masses with different temps and humidities. There looks to be a lot of mixing going on.

Besides the inversion, what is really cool to me is that folks are using the image archive off Fotki. That is what I like to see.

The Conditions page now shows a 6 degree drop - all at once. What would the cause of this be? Instrument iced up?

The temperature on the current conditions page has actually been off by 6 degrees since Saturday. We have been trying to fix the device that the temperature was coming from, a Yankee Systems Thermo-Hygrometer, with little sucess...we are really stumped and don't know what is wrong.Originally Posted by Brad
So, we are now using a different device to get the temperature for the current conditions page, ARVTP, and the home page, and it is now the correct temperature. That's why you see the drop in the temperature on the graph.

We are....PENN STATE!!
Is this software you run on one of your computers up there and is it showing you everything in real time? Is this page updated every 15 min., or once an hour?

If your not a OBS member yet then what are you waiting for
Every 15 minutes. The program that generates the image was created in something called LabView, which is a graphical programming environment geared towards data acquisition and science.Originally Posted by WSR88D
And the Conditions images get archived every 15 minutes as they change to http://public.fotki.com/MWO/saved/20...tions-archive/
