I would give anything to be sitting there in person...until I got cold enough to go back inside.

Is there really any BAD weather???
The MWO web site says the microwave link is down due to snow - and they are going to fix it. So, no images being updated right now. One alternative (Plan A) might be to cause the snow to stop. They are probably working on Plan B. Plan C is to move the mountain closer to N Conway. Hopefully Plan B works. Or maybe they are still working on Plan A.

Microwave, shmicrowave. ;-) How about getting that little town on the cog side to upgrade their internet? Then you can use your connections down there for weather proof communications (at least for the summit cam and summit weather info - you could even run phone communications thru it). The MW Hotel offers guests high speed internet - could MWO work out a deal with them to share their connection? The power line or fiber line that runs under the cog could each carry high speed internet (might need repeaters, but they can do it). If all of that is wiggity wash, I vote for option A .. stop the snow. I think you guys have enough already.
I read somewhere that they did have fiber in along with the new power. They just do not have the connection from the base of the cog out. Not knowing the bandwidth requirements it is difficult to say what connections are needed. The Hotel may have highspeed internet for its guests, but it could easily be swamped by the needs of the Obs if they are trying to stream video for the distance learning.
The good news is that there now is fiber from the summit to the base, which was installed as part of the powerline project. The State Park recently switched to that connection for their Internet needs.
The bad news is that it recently failed as well.
We're trying our best to navigate through this problem. Remember, the cover was ripped off our dish early this winter and we have been physically unable to fix it to this point.
We'll keep you all posted...

Corey was looking for an excuse to get back to MW. Let him fix it.

What an amazing organization! They got the microwave link fixed without our help. It is hard to believe, but they did it. Now, a part of the exercise was to rappel off the tower (why is it the IT guy had to do this?) to fix the part of the link that was not broken. But, it was good practice. Now that it is working again we can all sit back in our arm chairs and watch the web camera images.
Glad we could help.
