Ah, slight confusing set of words selected incorrectly in order where I needed to differently.

I have given up trying to fix the laptop hardware. I blew away Windows and installed it back at the factory installation - which I find is raw Windows and not even including the IBM Thinkpad stuff. Now I am in the process of reinstalling all the software - all of it. It seems this needs to be done every 9 months or so based on the things I do - which includes trying a lot of software and then trying to uninstall it.

Ghost is your friend. Get it perfect and capture an image. Makes reinstalling much easier. After you reinstall and update, grab another image for next time.

The north view was nice. Looked coooooold, though.

IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads have the ability built in to produce complete images on a second hard disk or to a USB drive. However, if the software is really screwed up, then the image copy has the problems too. My system is soooo bad at this point it is easier to go back to a known good point (original factory installation) than select an image and maybe bring forward a problem.

No, I mean once you get the OS/drivers installed and patched, the a/v installed and patched, and whatever office suite you use installed and patched, *then* make an image so when you rebuild, you don't need to do all the installing and patching again. Once you have your laptop set up the way you want it, there's is that very short time when it's perfect, before you start installing/uninstalling extra software. That "perfect time" is when you want to grab the image.

Yes, once the system is built I will use the built in function to create an image. Not sure where to create it yet - with a 320GB and a 160GB drive in the laptop.

It looks like at 2:00 PM today the camera images stopped and some are a bit "messed up".
