What's the latest (est.) the snow arch is in Tucks' ? MeridenFF and I are going up the first weekend in June to stay at Lakes. Just wondering if it will still be around?

People will be skiing on Mount Washington the first week in June. You won't see the snow arch because that whole area will still be filled with deep snow.Originally Posted by Great Guinness Ghost
My guess is that you will not be able to get to that area from Lakes. The Tucks trail will be closed in the bowl if there is still snow across the trail. Whatever happens you'll have plenty to do up high. The Alpine Garden might be coming into bloom at that time.
I've seen the snow arch in August.
Wow I guess that answers that. We were planning on staying at Pinkham. Are there other trails open from that side going up to Lakes? The Alpine garden was on the list.Originally Posted by Bill O
Lions head will be open, which will take you right along side the Alpine Garden as well as Boott Spur trail, both of which you can take from Pinkham visitor center.Originally Posted by Great Guinness Ghost

Is there really any BAD weather???
Right, you will be able to get to Lakes.
You might even have to cross some snow on the Lion's Head Trail. Take your time, its usually a short, easy traverse. With just enough exposure to raise your heart rate.
Here is an August 1, 2001 picture - the arch is gone but there was plenty of snow left.

I think this year there will be snow into August.

Hope it stays around that long this year - will make the STP hike even more interesting!Originally Posted by Bill O
