The satellite images hold some clues for this warm layer...
Upper level clouds are moving west to east, low level is east to west off the coastal plain. Clash of two air masses is leading to sandwiching layers...

Marine layer off the Atlantic. This morning the Presidential View had a clear view of the summit, while the Ravines cam was socked in with clouds.

Just returned from skiing at Wildcat. The weather there was beautiful. The summit ofg Wildcat slipped in and out of the clouds. The ravines on Washington were visible, then invisible. Temps were in the forties, the sun in and out. No wind. Ahhh... spring skiing!
