Your photos always amaze me...

I see that one of the moose is missing a bit patch of fur. A few weeks back I watched a show on tv, I think Animal Planet, about moose and ticks. The the tick infestation on moose is so bad that it will make them lose huge amounts of their fur and possible make them so weak it kills them.

Anyone else see this?

All moose are loosing their heavy winter coats right now, a process called "molting". Some birds use it to line their nests to keep hatchlings toasty warm.

Ticks are a nasty scorge for moose. If you see a moose with bare spots in the middle of winter on the neck, shoulders or sides, that's the result of the moose trying to dislodge ticks.

I know all about molting...

I have a parakeet that's about 11 years old, a little two inch bird can make such a BIG Mess. But I Love her....
