    The fact that the question was asked points to how disorienting the conditions can be on Mount Washington.

    True, and its not uncommon to come across dead birds on the mountain. Often stranded and disoriented by bad weather.

    Or disease as in West Nile virus as well especially in some birds. but I do vote for Rock as well.
