so went out for another hike started out in wonalancet on the kelleys trail onto the lawrence trail to the summit of mt paugus came down part of the way and camped out then came down the next morning the rest of the old paugus trail pictures can be seen here http://public.fotki.com/caffine231/hiking-trip7-87-9/ the trail markers on the old paugus trail are really bad to poor and over grown in some spots

Your pictures are beautiful! I'm glad you had such a good time! I think that the photos hide one aspect of your hike... the humidity! It must have been extremely humid out there over the last couple days. We've been sweltering in Ashland, which isn't too far away.

I've not climbed this one, it's been on my "to do" list for a couple of years now. I'm envious you've been. The "true" summit is not reached by trails. You must bushwhack up from the maintained trails. From the looks of your pics you were up on the ledges just below the summit.

Many of New Hamphsire's 3000 footers are only reached by bushwhacking.

For peakbaggers that climb these mountains there is usually a register at the summit to sign to prove that they've been there. Sometimes it's a capped pvc tube with papers inside, other times it's simply a mason jar.

yes val the humidity was out of control im sure i lost a few pounds while we were out there
