The valley is actually North Conway. When you drive out Rt. 16 you are heading into the mountains thus gaining elevation. By the time you get to PNVC you are at 2000' above sea level so it will be cooler there than in the valley.

Here is what STP 2007 looked like for the day.

At noon the temperatures up the Auto Road at different elevations is listed at the right in this one.

Summit visibility at noon was 10 miles and it went down to zero by dinner.

Remember the forecast last year? Even the short-term, 6 hour forecast, was a complete bust.

The words on the images above say - showers and we got a few. Not many. I am sure there were thunderstorms around and someone got them. Turned into a better day than forecast.

When we were above LOC last year for STP we were in the clouds for most of the time with winds between 20 and 25 mph. but we had no rain. The summit stayed in the clods for most of the afternoon then began to break up after 6.

Yup - and I was one of the clods hanging around up there.
