The original rules say nothing about buying beer. But I am sure that KDT would be willing to share his price with you all. (I do not drink) BUT, he has not won yet. It does look like we will pass Joe and Mark on by. That will leave a very short list as we go into the home stretch.

I wonder how they are taught in school how to use key words - like

What is the difference between scattered thunderstorms and ones that are isolated? Is that different from having some stray thunderstorms wandering around?

These words were grabbed off real forecasts for 4 different locations. Well, they are mostly different. They are mainly in isolated states with a stray neighbor. Please note that the accuracy of these statements are approximately 2%.

As I learned when taking a FEMA course for local emergency management duties, there are actually official definitions for forecast-related words like isolated, scattered, etc... You can look them up on the NWS site here:

Extended cold period with lows in the teens on the summit expected in the next few days. If snow showers pop up we could easily get an inch.

Either way, with freezing fog forecast for that period it will look like snow when the clouds clear.

This is obviously biased reporting.

October 1st F6 report - a trace of snow. The first trace for the season - but not enough for a winner.

"NJgail11 - Oct 1" is out for the date picked. But, could be a shared winner with "Rockin Rex - Oct 3" for October 2nd.

I am off for the weekend with my daughter to England. So, I will check back late on Monday to see how this is going.

Today might be the day. Light snow grains right now, lots of returns on the radar and a NW flow. Good combination for accumulating snow.
