Default help with setting up a seek the peak page....

ok guys....in preparation for next year....would someone explain to me (in simple easy to follow terms) how to set up a seek the peak page and have the whole paypal thing up and running....i only half looked at it but im going to need some guidance....i am completely tech/comp illiterate (no cell phone....rotary phone at home....things are very basic and simple here!)....i think it would just be a cool thing and so much easier to have pledges online....so any help anyone gives will really be appreciated....

You don't need to do anything. STP 2009 is not up and running yet, nor does it have a Paypal option, as far as I know. Hang tight for another few months until everything is set.

    Mary,

You don't need a paypal account for your stp page. The MWO automatically sets up the payment page which accepts credit cards and all the payment info. all you do is enter your info and a comment and the rest is done for you.

For folks who want to understand the process to create your own STP page.

    • Mt Washington Observatory builds and puts in place a web site for STP.
    • You create an ID on the STP web site.
    • You edit the text you want folks to see - please pledge - tax deductible - great organization. Whatever you want to say. And you set your goal for the fundraising.
    • And you click "Save".

That is it. MWO creates the whole site and handles the payments and how folks can donate. When Aunt Sally wants to donate to your page she is given a link to step through to put a charge on her credit card. No one sees that and it is all set up for you.

It is possible MWO will have more options for ways to pay, but for STP 2008 it was US credit card only.

There is not much we have to do to create the page.
