Well, the thing on the left at the rear end of the truck is the UV Light Powered Mixing Machine. It looks like the 10th anniversery for the Park Rangers party will be next weekend and they had to set it up. The folks were told the generators were no longer at the summit (no one told therm there is regular power) so they brought their own power too.

Should be a good party.

I have heard the observers complain about their pasty white complexion after their time on the rockpile, perhaps this is some experimental tanning bed equipment ???

I have been to the Obs LIDAR site in Bartlett and if you want to see what that equipment looks like, check out this link. I doubt what you have photos of is related to LIDAR.

Maybe it's research having to do with the Drake Equation and SETI.

this is some test equipment the red thing is a light or laser of some type

the white thing looks like a portable doppler unite

the big white box is the command center because it has a Sanyo air conditioner unit to keep it cool

was there any one around it that you could have asked

Google "signature exploitation" and you'll start going in the right direction.

That red thing is a good old fashioned spot light, Batman would be familiar with that.

I'm guessing they are setup in that valley because there is some degree of radio silence. Some valleys in West Virginia are known to have almost complete radio silence.
