You will need full winter gear including plastic mountaineering boots and crampons. If you don't own these you can rent them at IME in North Conway.

I suggest getting to the area a day early to visit and rent, then stay the night and get an early start to meet the tractor at the Auto Road. They will send you a list of essential gear, and you won't get on the tractor without it.
I cannot speak for the course itself, but I can say that Joe Lentini is the best of the best. At worst you will walk away with a once in a lifetime experience.
