    Default autumn in Zealand Notch

Silver Cascades in Crawford Notch, on the way to Zealand Notch...

    Wildlife Pond...

the bottom of the notch with talus from Whitewall Mtn. and the lower slopes of Zeacliff...

a cow moose snoozing near the Ethan Pond Trail...

closer up, before I gently announced my presence...

    garter snake...

northern harrier hawk heading toward the beaver bogs...

silverling growing in the crevices on the summit of Whitewall Mtn....

my favorite flora, birch glades with ferns and hobblebush understory. Moose spend lots of time here browsing the hobblebush. Hobblebush is underrated as an autumn foliage plant, IMHO...

a toad burrowing into the mud of a moose wallow in the birch glades...

    happy autumn

Fabulous display of the beauty of autumn in the White Mountains! Can't imagine a better place to be. Thanks for taking us along Patrick.

    Thumbs up

Why are they saying the foliage is not very good this year?
Looks pretty darn vibrant to me!
    Thanks for sharing!
