Cool your jets and hang on a bit :-) They listed a whole bunch of changes and I am sure it will take a while to get it all working.

I am getting excited to.I Can't wait to get it going and start collecting and then it will be waiting and waiting for next July to get here. I have already got the jar on my counter @ work and I am trying to get a welder donated so I can raffle it off this year. Last year I recieved an electronic welding helmet that I raffled off and made just over $200.00 for it.

The new/updated STP website is progressing - i.e. - a bunch of the pictures used in the header are ones that I took this year. Don't know if this is a recent change, or if they have been there a while.

Wow, you guys are on the ball. Yes, today was the day that the STP09 website was supposed to be ready, but no, it's not. Here's why...

The MWO website will see some big changes in about two weeks. We've invested in new online fundraising software that will give us many more fundraising and e-marketing tools. For members and donors, there will soon be many more ways to support our cause. Since roughly 40,000 people visit the site religiously every day (10x the # of MWO paying supporters), this is our way of trying to grow our income to meet the constant funding challenges we face as a non-profit. Especially in today's economy.

Soon, web visitors will be able to give memorial gifts, tribute gifts and recurring gifts (monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.). You'll be able to have memberships that renew automatically, which will hopefully reduce mailing costs and make supporting the Obs even easier. You'll be able to send MWO e-cards to your friends. You'll also have access to your own personal info, so you can update mailing addresses, phone numbers, etc., without having to call our office to update. If you decide to make a recurring gift, you'll have access to that info and you can change it at any time. (Recurring gifts are great, because it's much easier to do $10 a month than it is to write a $120 check all at once.)

Most importantly, we'll now have the ability to communicate with everyone through email. Sounds simple, but this is important. In addition to regular e-newsletters with great MWO content, we'll also be able to send special offers, extreme weather alerts, event info and gentle requests for support. We'll be able to segment our email lists so that if you are interested in photography, events, extreme weather, research or even Marty (our beloved mascot), you can indicate that and you'll receive e-mail updates based on what you want to see.

On the back end, it will make us much more efficient. Right now, we need to physically key in every donation, every membership, every transaction into our database, even if it comes through the website. With the new software, it will sync with our offline database so that the day-to-day data entry workload is drastically reduced.

So what does this have to do with STP? Well, the STP site will ultimately utilize the same software. However, there have been many unforseen issues with the software integration and we are behind schedule by about three weeks. We don't want to start registering people and getting pledges on the STP site only to make a giant change mid-stream.

So... that means that the STP site changes will be pushed back until after the new MWO site is up for a couple of weeks. Hang in there, it will be great when it's done. We started registering people for STP at Christmas last year, so we're still way ahead of that date!

Thanks for your patience and I apologize for this very, very long-winded response!

    All the best,
    Scot

The "long winded response" is much appreciated Scot. Great to know what is going on and what we have to look forward to. Sounds like the site changes are going to provide some great new fund raising opportunities for the OBS. Having additional tools for all of us STP fundraisers will be a welcome addition. Hopefully it will let us double last years total (or even more). Can't wait to get going...
