My hope is to get back into Tuckermans to the Headwall on a clear, blue sky day. I can see it now. Out of 3 days we have to have a great day.

I was going to take a bumper tube so I could be pushed by the chunk.
Are others up for meeting us at PNVC on a day to be determined later?

If your not a OBS member yet then what are you waiting for
I've spent the last few years borrowing equipment from the Bradstreets. I decided it was about time I owned some winter gear (maybe I'll actually do some NC hikes this winter). Now that I think about it, I'm amazed at the vareity and volume of gear between Bill and Brad. They could earn a good living by charging folks for the use as a trial run to decide before buying.
For this trip, I purchased:
- Some non-cotton layers (tops and bottoms)
- Gaiters
- Kahtoolas (they were AWESOME on my Lafayette hike)
- SmartWool Balaclava
- Expedition Gloves/liners
- SmartWool socks and liners
- Fleece pants
- Headlamp
I still need to get a good down jacket, sleeping bag, and goggles for my March trip, but I can't afford them yet. And, I already have my waterproof layers and both a day pack and a big pack.
Just make sure Brian and/or Brad do a good job on the weather - I'll expect beautiful clear sky, a light breeze, and maybe some snow during the descent. You guys want to add anything else, I'm ok with that.
Corey,
The Kahtoolas were only awesome on your hike AFTER you put them on. Sitting inside your pack they did you no good.

Yeah, yeah. I scrambled up a trail that at times looked like a frozen river before putting them on at the hut. I have to learn lessons the hard way or they wont stick. REI said mine were on backorder, so if they don't arrive before the 15th, I'll probably steal Bill's again (unless you have been able to talk him into joining). Given the amount of snow I've seen discussed on TV, should I invest in some snowshoes??

Hey Brad,
I'm going to be up house sitting in Gorham Saturday through Monday, so I could be in for this. I have an ambitious photo itin though...and never really plan stuff in advance of doing it ... so I won't commit...but the odds aren't looking bad depending on the day and time.
I'll PM you my cell #, even if I don't hike, I'd love to join ya for some hot cocoa in Pinkham before or after!
Jim

We are looking for a Plan B. Thinking about maybe doing Kearsarge North off Hurricane Mt Road just north of N Conway.
Anyone have insight on the trail condition this time of year? Would it be packed down - icy - need snowshoes?
Just looking at alternatives. the fire tower on top would be nice if it is real cold.
