Christmas Weather?

I realize that it is still a few days away, but can you provide a forecast for me for the 24 and 25th for the Mount Washington area? Also, are there any websites you recommend that provide good, local, international forecasts?

To Mike C., if you hear any sleigh bells at night during your upcoming shift, not to worry - it is just me making my rounds!

one thing I am wondering.. I haven't been able to find an aproximation of the amount of snow that has fallen so far on and around Mount Washington.. Enough for alpine camping? (2 feet min)?

Frosted Frank-There are a couple places to turn to for the information you are seeking. The summit codes our snow depth every six hours in our MEATAR's but you can go to: http://www.mountwashington.org/weather/summit.php and read ground conditions on that page for the summit. For around the summit, you can read the avalanch report at: http://www.mountwashington.org/weather/avalanche/ or the weather at Gray Knob at: http://www.randolphmountainclub.org/...onditions.html or the backcountry weather page at: http://www.outdoors.org/recreation/t...ry-weather.cfm All of these are located at the bottom box on the right hand side of our weather page. Hope this all helps ya. But just remember that there is no camping on the summit cone within the state park.

How's this for a forecast St. Nick....... Bad weather, heavy snow flurries, occasional gusts of 220+ with freezing rain and fog.

thanks alot for the info. I could only find the most recent snow fall and never accumulated, just to help prepare better. And no worries wasn't planning on camping on the cone or anywhere near, Probably going to try and go up boott spur link and go on the Davis Path trail. If the link isn't safe then I'll be going up Lion's head and make the detour. Was wanting to get an idea of snow fall so far this year. Thanks alot for the info!

Snow on the ground at the summit is highly variable and subjective. Most of the winter it is common for the summit to only record a few inches of snow cover. Not to worry, there will be plenty of spots above treeline with more than two feet of snow. 1" of snow is capable of 10" or more of drifting.
