100 mph average winds

I noticed that the average wind speed for midnight to midnight for 1/1/2009 was 93.2mph. Was there any 24-hour time period where the average wind speed was 100mph or higher? Obviously there are a lot more 24hr periods than midnight-midnight, and having 2400 miles of air movement in 24 hours is pretty darn rare.

Hoping someone with access to the constant readings at the summit will be able to answer...

Yes, I can confirm this since I have access to all 76 years worth of data. It is not very common but it does happen from time to time. Ones that I remeber since I have been here are Jan 16, 2006 with an average of 101.9 mph, February 16, 2007 with 99.9 mph, and March 21, 2008 with 104.3 mph. These are evident on our F-6, which are available back to 2005 on our site. There are more but that will have to suffice for now.

Sorry, I meant 24hr periods around this most-recent wind event. Like perhaps 11pm-11pm had 2400 miles of movement? Or some other stretch. I'm not sure how many readings compile the daily average, but I could put that info into a spreadsheet and see what the average was for each 24hr stretch from this most recent event.

There is no need to check that as we already checked to see if we averaged over 100 mph for any 24 hour period but we did not, we were a few hours shy. Thanks for offering though.
