Post your loon pictures

Patrick pointed what appear to be 2 loons in Chris' picture. The sight of loons and their calls are such a part of northern New England. Lets post here some pictures we have taken of loons to share.

As always, such pretty pictures. I've never had the luck of seeing a loon. Is it true that most are mostly out at sunrise?

You'll need to come out to the Adirondacks and hike some trails. The Northville-Placid trail is 132 miles and you will often find yourself falling asleep to loons and waking up to the loons. Very pleasant indeed. Nice pictures!

Here is my only picture of a Loon taken at Chocorua Lake last summer, besides the one where it is completely blurry behind me.

Loons call to each other in the morning. As human activity rises on a lake during the day you do not see them much. Then late afternoon they are out in their favorite spots fishing again. If a boat goes by that they do not like the sound, they will call a warning. Otherwise, they start calling to each other throughout the evening into night.

We open our cabin windows and doors Memorial Day weekend and close them on Labor Day (they really never get closed all summer). So, most evenings we listen to the loons as we lay in bed or sit on the deck. They have several very distinct calls depending on the situation. Each one is wonderful to hear.
