Mark, I still can't believe how far ahead of us you are. Everything is just BEAUTIFUL!! We've got nothing like that blooming yet. The weathermen are still threatening us with frost for tomorrow night. GRRRRR!!
Here are my guesses about Brad's "Identify the plant" photos:
1 and 2: Chokeberry.
3: Agree that it is starflower.
4 and 6: Agree that these are bunchberry. One of my favorites. I like the fact that it is a miniature member of the dogwood family.
5: This is a real puzzle. The flowers do look exactly like blueberry flowers, but I am positive it is not a blueberry. The leaves are wrong. ?????
7: Bluets (often not very blue).
8: Fothergilla, also known as witch alder.
Great identification! #5 is in among several different types of Blueberries. So, I would not be surprised if this is another. No ideas yet on #6.
Not bad for just the path from the cabin to the dock.
I have these and other pictures I took today around the yard in an album to record the flowers throughout the summer - http://public.fotki.com/bradbradstre...in/2009-cabin/

I stopped this morning at the Intervale rest area on route 16 just north of N Conway. The object was to get pictures of the summit with the new June snow on the ground. I waited as long as I could for the clouds to move on back.
This is one to record the June 1st summit snow
And flowers by the parking lot

Nice timing Brad. New snow as the Lupines are blooming in the valley. Amazing!

Great shots Brad. Everytime we go up there we stop there mainly for me to admire my mistress and take shots of her.And for the wife and daughter to go pee.
The higher peaks look very frosty and cold for this time of year.
