If this ISN'T an April Fool's joke, shame on whoever thought it made sense to take an unspayed (or un-neutered) cat to the summit! And the surgery would certainly have made the gender clear.

Excellent joke
Pity..kittens would so fit in my pack in May......![]()
Glad to see many of you found some humor in the cat spoof. An April Fools joke has grown to be an unofficial Obs tradition, and we've all had some good chuckles over the years (the fire-breathing dragon was my favorite).
Unfortunately, the joke may have cast the Conway Area Humane Society in a negative light, and for that we sincerely apologize. We are so proud to work with Virginia and the gang at CAHS and any ruffling of feathers (or in this case, fur) was unintended.
Here's a great story: WOKQ's Morning Waking Crew believed the story in its entirety and talked about Marty's new kittens for their entire four-hour show this morning. In speaking with them this morning, they were floored that it was a joke and said "I can't believe that we got punked by weather geeks!" So now, I will be on air with them tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM to clear the air, have some fun, support the work of CAHS and make "lemonade out of lemons". I'm glad that this will turn out to be a great PR victory for everyone involved.
Interesting day in the office thus far...
Cheers,

Evidence that WOKQ bought the whole story...

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who bought it hook, line, and sinker! What really should have tipped me off was the supposed name of the volunteer taking care of the kittens, Tom Showers (a.k.a. Fool of April)!
Excellent joke and even better that you get follow up PR.
But, the chair lift is real - right?

The quality and execution of this joke raised the bar. Well done.
On a scale of 1 to 10 for gullible I'm about a 25, I bought it hook, line and sinker.
When I read it last night, I called my sister to look on the website, I coulnd't believe that Marty had kittens.
I even called my fiance who was working up in E. Hartford and said we better have out cat double checked...
