kinda gross, but natural. I recently sent these pics to the nice folks at Fish & Game for an explanation of the funky little growth on his chest.
"The moose in these pictures has both winter tick and a cutaneous
fibroma. Cutaneous fibromas are basically warts and are caused by a
virus. While unsightly they rarely cause the animal any serious harm and
eventually go away once the virus runs it's course. They can and do
bleed and can get infected, especially if located in a place where they
will be subject to abrasion as this one is.
