Any thoughts on Smarts Mtn

Ok, I realize it isn't in the Whites but it is nearby. Dad and I were looking for something not too far from his brother's house in VT to go hiking. I wanted to do Killington but couldn't figure out if the VT trails have opened up post mud season. I then came across Smarts Mtn in Lyme, NH. Has anyone done it before. Any thoughts or suggestions about it would be much appreciated. Maybe this time I will actually write a trip report after the fact, everyone elses are just so good I don't know if I can keep up with my reporting skills.

I have hiked it along the A.T. from the road east of Lyme Center that continues over to Dorchester. It was an enjoyable day hike, and it was fun to go up in the old fire tower. But I should warn you that this hike was 8 or 10 years ago, and I'm not even sure you can still go up into the fire tower! So if you can find more up to date information, that would be a good idea. Maybe a recent guide to the A.T. would help.

The Lambert Ridge Trail is quite scenic. The fire tower is still open.
