Wow! Thanks!
It took a while, but many emails and pictures later Marty Basch, editor for Widswept, chose this one. Honestly, we had exchanged so many photos and ideas trying to reflect different seasons and situations, when it finally appeared I didn't recognize it as mine at first!
I took this one on the Crawford Path July 3rd, 2005. I hiked the entire CP to the summit of Washington, crossing each summit along the way as well, Pierce, Franklin, Little Monroe, Monroe and finally Washington, rather than skirting the summits as the Crawford Path does. It was a long day! We descended by Trinity Heights/Gulfside/Jewell Trails. My older brother in law hasn't hiked in the mountains much since then. We say this hike "Did him in."
We had a beautiful July day. I snapped this shot at the northern Lakes of the Clouds as we were passing. Originally it was a horizontal shot, but is cropped to fit the vertical cover of Windswept. This hike was the first day I shot digital in the mountains with my (then) new Nikon 8800. I'm still shooting with it today. I find it easier to work with on the trail than my D80.
Thanks again, everyone for the kind comments, and thanks to Marty for choosing one of my photos, and thanks to the Obs for being such a great organization!
