Default This might not be a White Mountain hike, but...

...I thought y'all might be interested nonetheless. My girlfriend is Norwegian, and so I went with her these past two weeks to meet her family. While I was there, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make an attempt on Northern Europe's highest point, 8,100 foot high Galdoepiggen. It was quite interesting to climb a mountain outside the familiarity of New England - certainly had a different flavor to it then Mount Washington.

First, a certain fair maiden of my acquaintance at the base:

Next, a few pictures on the way up:

Closer to the top, the weather started getting a bit crummy:

The summit cabin (which, incidentally, was locked):

And of course, my faithful traveling companion:

And lastly, a pretty one from the way down:

Anyway, I thought y'all might like a taste of something different from the usual White Mountain fare.

Just incredible!!! This is why we need a "General Hikes" forum. Great to escape outside of the Whites every so often - no matter how much we love them.

    Keep close to Nature's heart...
and break clear away, once in awhile,
and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods.

Very nice TR and photos. I agree, it's always nice to see other hikes from around the US and the world. So many mountains out there, and too little time and money to climb them all.

I never want to see a day
    That's over forty degrees
    I'd rather have it thirty,
Twenty, ten, five and let it freeeeEEEEEEeeze!
