This was my first Seek The Peak and I had a great time raising money for the OBS, and meeting alot of you here on the forum. Our hike started at the parking lot for the Ammo trailhead at 7:30.
The views were fantastic and the trail was just wet and a little muddy.
We reached the Gem Pool in a little more than an hour and a half. Nice place to take "five" and enjoy the view.
At about the halfway point, a cool group of guys took this photo. They had a Black Lab with them, and at this point, he had had enough of the blowing wind and mist and tried to bolt back down the trail. They had to quickly go after him, telling us it was his first time climbing the mountain.
At about two thirds of the way to Lakes of the Clouds, we were fortunate to have met Scot Henley who was nice enough to pose with us for a photo.
We got to the Lakes at around 10:15 and stayed for a short time before heading onward.
We met up with Scot and his crew again shortly after leaving the Lakes and tried to keep up with him heading to the summit. Not an easy thing to do though as he's pretty darn fast.
Made it to the summit by I think 11:30, and quickly got our photo taken by the guys from Subaru.
Got a really nice, very informative tour of the weather room by Stacey and Ryan.
As we were heading down Tucks, the clouds lifted just in time to get some great views of the ravine.
Past by the Snow Arch which was a must stop for everyone passing by.
A little red squirrel was about the only wildlife we saw.
We finally made it to PNVC by 3:45 and remarked to ourselves, what a fantastic hike.
Then to cap off a great day, the Awards Dinner.
I must say that this was one of the best hikes I have ever done. Cannot wait for STP 10 next year.![]()
