    Default Contest for Feb...

    A wind chill contest would be a good one...even more difficult to predict!!!

    The problem with windchill is its not official. Nobody records windchill, it doesn't go into any forms and its not archived. Windchill is just a feeling, its not real. In fact, the entire windchill chart was revised a few years ago.

    I'll setup another contest for February tomorrow. That will give people 7 days to get their guess in. Forecasting could come into play here because the coldest air of the season is progged to come in the first week of February.

    Sounds good, make it up and we are guaranteed to have fun with it. With regards to the windchill factor, you mention that no one records it and it is just a feeling, which I understand. But it is on most every weather page on this site. Just an observation

    That's right, its just on the website. It doesn't get recorded into Mount Washington's climate record and it never gets sent to the National Weather Service.
