BWB nailed it on the head. This is all referring to the August 17th obscast where we showed some of the work that was involved in replacing the flooring in the kitchen. Gus is the name of our snow tractor operator/state park employee/all around handyman/etc who is the one that ripped out the old flooring. The new flooring was from and installed by a Conway business (the name slips me). We will also be getting a new stove but the one we ordered was not incorrect so we are waiting for the new one to arrive. The old one will be auctioned off (you can watch the August 10th Obscast for a humorous take on that). We will announce when it will be ready for auction via a comment and a posting somewhere in here. We are also in the process of getting new living room furniture and mattresses (so I have been told).

But in case you missed the obscast because you are a non-member, here is a photo report of what you missed:
August 14th: Stove and dishwasher removed. Notice in the picture the floor is blackened from burning. This was because the stove once sat on the floor and caused this years ago. We since raised it but I am sure that after over 20 years of continuous use added to this. THe wall behind it is grease overall but the gray shape in the middle that looks like someone bending over doing yard work is concrete that was not painted white for some reason. Just to the right is the mildew and stains behind where the dishwasher once stood.

As a result of the kitchen being torn up, we had to use a living-kitchen set up. It was kind of nice having a fridge so close to the living room. Made watching movies and getting some apple juice and popcorn that more convenient. Downside was making dinners w/o a stove.


August 15th: Gus spent the better part of the day taking out the old floor, scrapping the glue off, and preparing the floors for the floor installation.


August 16th: Walls washed and general cleaning of stove, fridge, etc.




August 17th: Conrete added to level the floor.


August 18th: Industrial strength lamanant added and walls painted. By the end of the day, the stove was rolled back in and life on the new floor began.
