Dock Party

Well, our fall Dock party is this morning - is a "cool" rain. You can join in and watch the fun starting at 9:00 AM by going to the lake web camera at http://longlake.homeip.net:8003 - You must use Internet Explorer and accept the ActiveX controls off the camera. there is a navigation Rose at the upper right to help you move the camera around.

When we finish doing the first dock (off to the right) we will shift to the dock on the left. lease someone shift the camera over there if it has not been done when we move to work on that dock.

That was the coldest Dock Party ever!

I checked your web camera every so often this morning while you guys were taking it apart, and it did look COLD! Brad, were you one of the guys that were in the water? And were you guys wearing wetsuits? Also, I was surprise at how fast you guys got it taken apart.

I was in the water for the whole time with no break. I would loosen the bolts - pull the pipes up - loosen the foot bolts - lift the section and let it fall in the water and reset for the next one. Very quickly everyone takes a position and role and you just go at it. A nice sunny warm day would have been a lot better. My son and I were the only ones in the water - and we were wearing full wet suits and booties. He had gloves on and I did not.

After it was all done Charlie ripped the booties off my feet and it felt like he was taking all the skin and even the feet with him. I really had no feeling in my feet at all. Then a very long hot shower to get feeling back everywhere.

Then we had a huge 3-hour lunch of steak, lobster, salad, homemade french breads, pie, cake, and, and, and. It was a great crew and we got both docks out. We still have some sections of my son's dock to be done - when we have a warmer day.

it was a cold one and we did move fast .you were still wet from head to toe and not in the water .

lunch was very good and its was nice to have some hot food in your belly

Nice video, it does look raw and cold, but I love weather like that. It was way too warm and humid down here yesterday.

I tried to look in on the web cam, but my computer would not allow me. I just got a new lap top for my Bday. I am now able to watch the obcasts on it after so many years of trying.

And we had to get it done as we would loose our help if we delayed even one day.

You need an easier set up.

The easiest way is to let "them" do it. Does not matter who them is - just as long as it is not us. Taking it out is not bad. Putting it in is a lot slower as you have to adjust and level each section as you go. At this time of year normally there is barely 3 feet of water at the end of the dock. But the water level has not dropped this year - it actually went up over the past few days. So, it was cold.
