Default Still Some Autumn Color to be Seen from Boulder Loop Trail

This past Sunday (25-Oct), a friend and I each had only a few hours available to us for hiking. We figured we would have just about enough time to do the Boulder Loop Trail. It would have been a magnificent day for a longer hike, but neither of us had the time. However, we were delighted to get in a hike of any length, and were very happy to find that there was still a fair amount of autumn color to enjoy. Below is a sampling of the views we experienced on this short hike.

This picture floored me, it is absolutely beautiful. The Albany Covered bridge is one of my most favorite places in the world. My family and I have had tons of fun spending afternoons there picnicing and going in the water, it was always quiet and serene.

I also did boulder loop a while back, I'd have to find the picture and scan it in.

This made my day, thank you!!

Beautiful photos John! We've only done Boulder Loop once and it was on a 90 degree muggy August day, the trail was closed at the top so we couldn't do the whole loop and we picked the wrong direction and lost most of the views. Now I really, really want to go back and do it again in the fall so that it can redeem itself!!

Bob; Betsy; Kevin; Kathy; Charlie; Mark: I sincerely thank each of you for your kind remarks. Very much appreciated!!

Oh! And Mark, it's uncanny that you should mention that you've only done this hike once. I had nearly the exact experience as you did. Until this past Sunday, the only other time I had done this loop was on a hot day in August and the views were very hazy. As a result of this experience, the Boulder Loop left an unfavorable impression and I had little desire to return. It was only because of an odd set of circumstances that I gave this short hike a second-chance. This second time around was a very pleasant surprise. My two experiences were almost like the difference between night and day. I'll definitely be going back sometime next autumn during peak foliage.

Beauty! I like the last shot, looking southwestish. Looking up from the Kanc, I noticed the nice gold and yellow beech in your foreground surrounding the cliffs. Very nice image!

... what Patrick said! And I thought Autumn was gone from these parts! That last shot is almost regal in it's castle-like beauty. I was up there in mid-July and was inclined to give the loop an "OK" rating... I'll definitely check this place out next fall.

Lots and lots of off-trail perches and "Lost" Ledges in those parts, too!
