    Default Winter is almost here

As we look around we are starting to see signs that winter is almost here. A hillside of birch trees all lined up like standing toothpicks - and not a leaf in sight. Ponds starting to freeze over. Traces of snow in the shadows along side the road.

Post your pictures of "almost winter" here.

As I drove across the Kanc yesterday to get to the MWO event, I stopped at "Lily Pond" and found it is starting to freeze over.

Waiting along the road for the sun to set behind the mountains.

Then on the way home the Mt Washington Hotel on a frosty night.

And the summit of Mt Washington at about 10:30 PM with the moonlight just showing through the clouds a bit. Ryan's work light can be seen on the summit. (He says it is a 40 watt bulb)

Post The Leaves are going and the Frost and Ice are here

Up at our friend Colleen's home in Monson,MA the Autumn colors are quickly fading around the beaver pond:

The view from the Conant Brook Dam is still pretty colorful:

Frost and ice are starting to form on the trails as Nigel and his Mom Iris are noticing:

It's definitely starting to look like Winter is on the way:

Anna, I am about as patient as Brian Clark is, as he alluded to in his comments on Saturday. Oh no, I feel it coming, it's building..... LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!!!! Also, great photos Anna and Brad.

    Post Look like Winter?

On my way to work Friday morning I snapped a couple of quick sunrise pictures over the Taunton River near our home in Dighton,MA.

The river definitely had that cold look of Winter:

About 20 minutes after I took these pictures it was downpouring:

Maybe shortly it will really look like Winter up in The Whites and Gary and I will be able to enjoy our favorite Winter activity......SKIING!!!! See you on the slopes:

SnowMiser I hope you enjoy the snow it that last picture.May it keep you happy until you get your first blizzard.

Hmmm, I cut the grass again (here in Maine on Nov 21st!!!!!) and then blew all the acorns out of the grass. I should have been making tracks in the snow.
